Birch Grove Park in Northfield NJ is a beautiful park filled with trails that wind around little lakes and ponds. It is a free park and has some beautiful backdrops for family portraits. In the fall the leaves are gorgeous, reflecting in the water. Even after the leaves have fallen the wooden covered bridge and trails make for some interesting photos. One interesting thing about photographing a Birch Grove Park is that over time unprofessionals have abused the park. The park can look down on photographers photographing in the park and bring in equipment. As long as we act professional we are fine.

Northfield, New Jersey 08225. It’s really tucked into the woods and can be easy to miss if you don’t know its there.
The Best Time to Photograph at the Park
Fall and Winter is a popular time to photograph at the park. There aren’t many people around and the sunset is early in the evening. Roughly 5 PM is a good time to photograph in Birch Grove. In the fall and winter we have to move quick, it can be chilly and the sun goes down quick. The middle of the day can be fine if it’s cloudy or we use the shade in the wooden covered bridge for shade.
